  1. 1 Trou Aux Cerfs

Trou aux Cerfs is situated in the core of Curepipe, there you will locate a dormant volcano encompassed by nature; an immense region of lush forest comprising of indigenous plant species, some giant green pine trees, copious greenery, trees, blossoms and a little lake at the inside. This is one of the well-known natural attractions in Mauritius. This dormant volcanic crater is around 605 meters above ocean level, with a diameter of 350 meters and a profundity of around 100 meters. Strikingly, Trou aux Cerfs is otherwise called ’Murr’s Volcano’. It is believed that the Trou aux Cerfs volcano erupted once and has stayed dormant throughout the previous 700,000 years; specialists believe that there is a potential possibility for it to become dormant once more.

  2. 2 Ship Factory

This fascinating factory is not just another museum. It is somewhere where hand-made pieces are created for museums and private collections. You will see history in making as the professionals create masterpieces using only the best materials. Trained to perfect the art of miniaturization and the techniques of replication, the Craftsman work with patience and pays attention to detail. It is somewhere special to visit!

  3. 3 Domaine Des Aubineaux

Located in Forest Side, near Curepipe, the Aubineaux house was erected in 1872. Made of wood of the time, the house is decorated with pretty turrets which give it an imposing appearance, as well as a vast central corridor, rather unusual at the time. During the renovation, the owners did not want to change anything, and the house kept all its period furniture and paintings. Accompanied by a guide you will visit the living spaces and discover the history of a Mauritian family, a step back in time that will immerse you in the colonial past of the island.

You can also visit the old stables that were transformed into a meeting room, boutique and distillery, where the secrets of the distillation of essential oils will be revealed to you.

You will be invited for a tea break in the tea room, the old billiard room of the house. For nature lovers, the floral park and the Camphor tree garden are open to you for a short walk away from camphor trees, exotic plants and certain endemic trees of the island.

  4. 4 Glass Gallery

Glass Gallery was founded in 1991 by one of the largest beverage companies in Mauritius. It was set up with the mission to protect the environment and recycle glass waste. Recycled glass is blown back to life into countless of forms and with sparkling colours. You will watch how the local skilled artisans use old techniques of glass blowing. Learn about the Hands of Fame- hand imprints of local and international celebrities from all the walk of life. Have your own handprint or footprint sculpted in glass in any way you want it. You can immortalize you and your partner’s hands on a heart-shaped glass and have the date or names engraved. It is all amazingly possible at the one and only Glass Gallery.

  5. 5 Eureka House

Eureka House, built by the river of Moka in 1830, is a special Creole house. It is an elegant residence originally owned by British and French aristocrats in the 19th century. It is considered to be one of the largest houses on the island, with 109 doors and windows. The Eureka house has been restored and transformed into a museum and was opened to the public in 1986. The house is mainly built of wood, with a shady and long veranda surrounding it. The visit and the grounds of Eureka Manor provides a fascinating glimpse into colonial life. Antiquities and photographs of the period are plentiful in the building. There is also a lovely garden surrounded by Moka River waterfalls. Eureka House will surely attract both the young and old nature lovers with its small waterfalls, endemic plants and lush greenery.

  6. 6* Bagatelle Shopping Mall (Optional)

Bagatelle Mall is Mauritius’s leading shopping and retail destination, hosting 156 retail outlets in Mauritius. Dominantly present and with comprehensive retail and recreational activities, the mall attracts a variety of shoppers. In a majestic setting, the Bagatelle Mall combines the most desired brands, shopping facilities, entertainment and daily recreation. Bagatelle Mall offers the island’s most complete and compelling shopping lifestyle. There are also plenty of options at the spacious food court. While it is Mauritius’s first national mall, it still has the real Mauritian island feel.
